Mount the Tap Holder Shank in the turret of the machine, leaving the Pt. #7 Clamp Screws loose enough so that the Pt. #2 Body can be moved freely.

Insert tap into Pt. #3 Spindle using a good concentric tap bushing.

With Pt. #7 Clamp Screws loose as described above, start tap into work and stop spindle after it has entered two or three threads. Tighten Clamp Screws and proceed with tapping operation.

To disassemble Tap Holder, remove 2 Pt. #7 Clamp Screws and rotate Pt. #4 Retaining Washer and remove. Replace two Springs or make other repairs. Replace Retaining Washer by slipping it over flanges of Spindle and rotating until flanges of spindle are at right angles to slots in Retaining Washer and radius ears are lined up with spring holes in Body and Spindle as shown.

Tap Holder is designed to operate with or without bumper action. If bumper action is desired, use only one Pt. #4 Retaining Washer. If no bumper action is desired, use two Pt. #4 Retaining Washers.
