INSERT TREPAN-FACE/CHAMFER TOOL FOR DAVENPORT, CNC AND OTHER SCREW MACHINES INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT:

FOR TREPAN-FACE/CHAMFER TOOL TO FUNCTION AS DESIGNED THE FOLLOWING RULES MUST BE OBSERVED:

INSERT SLIDE BODY (PT. 2) MUST BE ADJUSTED FOR ALIGNMENT WITH SPINDLE AND LOCKED IN PLACE WITH HEX SCREWS (PT. 14).

WHEN MAKING DIAMETER ADJUSTMENTS, LOCKING RING (PT. 7) MUST BE SNUG, BUT NOT SO TIGHT THAT INSERT SLIDES CAN NOT BE ADJUSTED FOR DIAMETER.

DIAMETER ADJUSTMENTS OF THE MICROMETER SCREW (PT. 8) MUST BE MADE IN THE CLOCKWISE DIRECTION (CLOSING DOWN) SO AS TO ELIMINATE BACKLASH.

WHEN CORRECT DIAMETER IS ATTAINED LOCKING RING MUST BE FULLY TIGHTENED USING THE SPANNER WRENCH (PT. 18) PROVIDED.

TO INTERCHANGE INSERT SLIDES:

REMOVE STOCK STOP PLATE BY REMOVING TWO SCREWS IF APPLICABLE.

LOOSEN LOCKING RING (PT. 7) WITH SPANNER WRENCH (PT. 18) PROVIDED.

UNTHREAD LOCKING RING (PT. 7) COMPLETELY AND REMOVE.

REMOVE 3 SLIDE CLAMPS (PT. 4) AND 3 INSERT SLIDES (PT. 5 OR 5A).

REPLACE WITH DESIRED SIZE INSERT SLIDE (SLIDES ARE MARKED WITH DIAMETER RANGE) BEING CERTAIN THAT SLIDE PIN IS IN THE SCROLL GROOVE AND SLIDE IS PROPERLY SEATED IN DOVETAIL.

REPLACE 3 SLIDE CLAMPS.  REINSTALL LOCKING RING AND TIGHTEN UNTIL IT IS SNUG, BUT NOT SO TIGHT THAT INSERT SLIDES CAN NOT BE ADJUSTED FOR DIAMETER.

ADJUST SLIDES TO .010" TO .015" LARGER THAN DESIRED DIAMETER BY ROTATING MICROMETER SCREW (PT. 8) AND CLOSING INSERT SLIDES DOWN  ON A ROD OR GAGE OF THAT DIAMETER.

BE SURE THAT LOCKING RING IS VERY SNUG AND TAKE A TRIAL CUT.  MEASURE TURN DIAMETER AND MAKE FURTHER ADJUSTMENTS AS NECESSARY UNTIL DESIRED DIAMETER IS ATTAINED.  THEN FULLY TIGHTEN LOCKING RING USING THE SPANNER WRENCH PROVIDED.

NOTE THAT EACH LINE ON MICROMETER SCREW = .001" ON DIAMETER (.0005" ON THE SIDE), AND THAT ALL THREE INSERT SLIDES ARE ADJUSTED SIMULTANEOUSLY.

WARNING: LOCKING RING (PT. 7) MUST BE FULLY TIGHTENED WHEN MACHINE IS IN OPERATION.
