Somma Tool Company has been manufacturing portable tapping machines for over 45 years. Both our tapping machine and retapping machine, are rugged cast aluminum construction and made in the USA.

These second operation machines, part number STC-TAP-ER tapper and part number BB-SR re-tap-er, have a double disc friction drives which reverses rotation instantly by the application of forward or backward hand pressure on the workpiece. Both machines come with a 1/2" capacity chuck. Larger chucks are optional.

The STC-TAP-ER has more torque and slower speed which allows you to tap up to 5/16-18 thread in ½” steel. This heavy-duty unit would be the right choice for difficult re-tapping applications as well.
